Jenny Staff Johnson

Jenny Staff Johnson is a writer and gun violence prevention activist. She currently serves as the Volunteer State Communications Lead for the Texas Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gunsense in America. She is a longtime journalist, essayist and fiction writer, and her work has been published in The Texas Observer, Texas Highways, Tin House’s Open Bar, The Los Angeles Review of Books blog, Necessary Fiction, and elsewhere.

She holds an MFA in Fiction from the University of Houston and a Master of Public Affairs degree from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas.

She also serves on the Board of Directors for Words Without Borders, whose mission is to cultivate global awareness by expanding access to international writing and creating a bridge between readers, writers, and translators. She lives in Houston, where she is at work on her first novel.
